Health insurance plans offered through SDCERA

SDCERA offers health and dental plans to retired members and their dependents and beneficiaries. The plans are available to both in-state and out-of-state residents, and include comprehensive health plans, as well as supplement plans for members who are eligible for Medicare.

Open Enrollment for SDCERA plans is in the month of November, with coverage effective January through December of the following year. Open Enrollment packets are mailed in October. In certain cases, members may enroll outside of Open Enrollment if they lose health coverage due to no fault of their own (retiring, moving out of state, etc.).
